India agrees to update 1950 treaty with Nepal

Nepal’s newly elected Prime Minister Mr Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is on his five days India visit. This visit is renovate the relation with India as well as India has also right time to solve many problems with Nepal.  India and Nepal both have decided to set up a joint taskforce of foreign secretaries to review, adjust and update 58 years old Indo-Nepal Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1950. In a joint press statement by India Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Nepal Prime Minister Mr Pushpa Kamal Dahal who also known as the name of ‘Prachanda’, expressed satisfaction at the many years old close cordial and present extensive relationships between two countries.

However they spoke the need to add new vitality into the relations between India and Nepal. Both Prime minister expressed concern over the big damage by the river in the Kosi barrage area and took decision to release relief and rehabilitation for both victims and damaged infrastructure. India has decided that it will give Rs 20 crore to Nepal for flood relief.

India and Nepal both agreed that India will set up a camp office for making easy movement of Nepali vehicular traffic via Bihar to reach other parts of Nepal until highway is not repaired. Therefore it is expecting that next coming days more agreements between two countries will be signed.
